US Citizen Passport
US citizens travelling to visit Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean or Bermuda must have passports if they are travelling by air. If they are travelling by road or sea you will need a birth certificate or other proof of citizenship, and Us government issued photo ID, like as driver's license, to cross these countries boarders of land sea route; children of 18 and younger will need a birth certificate.
There are plans to issue Passport cards for travellers who want to travell to countries like Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and Bermuda.
Americans who want to travel to Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam will not need a passport to show at the entry points.
The application for the American passport can be downloaded form the state department website and to be filled dually.
Also with that one you have to provide
One Goverment issued photo ID;
Birthcertificate,
2 current photographs as required
Visa fee US$97
And you have to apply in person at a post office, public library or other government office authorized to receive applications.
If everything is in order you will be issued with a apssport within 4-6 weeks.If you need it urgently, then you can use the - expedited service - which the State Department claims that you will get the passport within three weeks. The fee is $60 which should be added to the $97.
